Note: For Copilot Studio you need a licence or a trial. Check with your IT whether your company allows it. If you don't get access, work through the Learn modules and write your agent's conversation flow on one page. You can do the hands-on part later.

1 Learn

Work through the modules in order and tick them off here. Microsoft Learn keeps track of your progress if you are signed in there.

2 Practise: Agent "Lending help"

You do the exercise on a computer. If you are reading on your phone, take your progress along.

  1. Write your team's lending rules on one page: who may borrow what, for how long, what happens if something is lost.
  2. Create an agent in Copilot Studio and give it this page as knowledge, for example as a SharePoint page or a file.
  3. Write the instructions: the agent only answers questions about loans and says when it doesn't know something.
  4. Ask it five questions, including one the rules don't cover. Note what worked and what was wrong.
  5. If Copilot is turned on in your environment: describe the reminder flow from week 5 to Copilot in Power Automate in two sentences and compare its suggestion with your flow.
If you get stuck
  • The agent also answers questions outside the rules: in the settings under "Generative AI", turn off Web Search and Allow ungrounded responses.
  • The agent cannot find your page: check that the knowledge source shows the status "Ready". New sources take a few minutes before the agent uses them.

Done when the agent answers your questions about the rules correctly and says it does not know when you ask something the rules do not cover.

3 Self-test

Answer each question in your head or on paper first, then open the answer. Recalling sticks better than rereading.

What is knowledge for an agent?

The sources the agent generates its answers from, such as websites, SharePoint or files.

What is a topic?

A defined conversation flow that starts for certain questions. You use it when the answer should always follow the same steps.

Copilot suggested a formula. What do you do?

Test it before you keep it. Copilot makes suggestions; you stay responsible for the result.

From week 5: what is the trigger condition in the flow from week 4 for?

The flow only starts when the condition is true, here only for status "Requested". That saves unnecessary runs.

Take the optional online test in the Copilot dojo (it is called the belt exam there). Go to the copilot.ninja dojo

Did you not know an answer? Open the matching module above again before you tick this off.

4 Connect optional

Stuck? Write to your Sensei or bring the question to the user group. The Power Platform User Group Deutschschweiz (German-speaking Switzerland) meets online every two weeks on Friday from 1 to 2 pm, free and in German.
